More info: Sint-Niklaas is the capital and major city of the Waasland region straddling the East Flanders and Antwerp provinces. Sint-Niklaas is located just 10 km from the Dutch border and is the gateway to the scenic landscapes around the river Schelde.

Sint-Niklaas is famous for its hot air balloon festival held every year, the first weekend of September. The festival, called 'Vredesfeesten', commemorates the liberation of the city by British troops from German occupation on September 9th, 1944.
