More info: The city of Den Helder is situated on the tip of a lowland peninsula jutting out into the North Sea and due to its strategic position, the city developed from a small fishing village into what it is today.
Den Helder is the main Dutch naval base and site of the Royal Naval College and the Admiralty Palace. It is home to not one but two museums: the Marinemumseum (Navy Museum) and the Nationaal Reddingmuseum Dorus Rijkers (Dorus Rijkers National Lifeboat Museum)
