More info: The original World Trade Centers North ans South Towers were destroyed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. 2,753 people lost their lives in the WTC tragedy, of whom 343 were firefighters.
Today, One World Trade Center is the tallest building in the United States, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, and the seventh-tallest in the world.
