More info: The Surf City Ocean Pier was originally built in 194 and has been owned and operated by the Lore family since 1973. It was destroued by Hurricane Fran in 1996 and was completely rebuilt and reopened in August of 1997. The Pier is 937 ft (286m) long. It offers a fully stocked tackle shop, large assortment of bait, fish cleaning stations with running water, and night lighting. The parking is free while fishing or visiting.
Topsail Island is a 26-mile long barrier island off the coast of North Carolina, roughly equidistant between the barrier islands of the Crystal Coast and the beaches of the Cape Fear region.
West of Surf City, Topsail Sound and the Intracoastal Waterway separate the island from the mainland. This narrow body of water provides the perfect setting for canoeing, kayaking, water skiing and fishing.
