More info: South Padre Island is a resort town on a barrier island of the same name, located off the southern coast of Texas. The island and is joined to the mainland by the Queen Isabella Causeway.

South Padre island offers visitors beautiful beaches, warm Gulf waters, fishing, boating, bird watching, theme parks and shopping. Isla Blanca Beach is just a short walk from the town centre and has facilities for surfing, boogie boarding, parasailing and jet skiing.

During the roaring 20’s, South Padre Island was popular with the rich and famous. The Port Isabel Yacht Club provided a premier yachting destination during the time of prohibition. It’s said to have been frequented by Amelia Earhart, Al Capone, President Eisenhower, and Charles Lindberg. The Yacht Club is still open as a hotel and restaurant.
