More info: Mobile is known for having the oldest organized Carnival or Mardi Gras celebrations in the United States. The French Creole population celebrated this festival from the first decade of the 18th century. The tradition was first celebrated with masked balls, quickly followed by parades.
The Port of Mobile is the 9th largest port in the United States and the 12th busiest. It is also a home-port to the Carnival Cruise Lines Ship, Carnival Spirit.
