More info: The Empire State Building was completed in 1931 and was the tallest building in the world until 1971. It took over that title from the Chrysler Building which claimed it in 1929. Incredibly, it only took 20 months to complete with 3,400 workers and sadly 5 deaths by accidents.

At its top floor, the Empire State Building stands 1,250 feet (380 meters) tall. It is currently the 4th tallest building in New York City, the 6th tallest in the United States, and the 43rd tallest tower in the world.

There are thousands of offices in the building with a fitness center and seven restaurants but there are no residential premises. The lobby is designed in the Art Deco style and is accessible to the public and there are observatories on the 86th and 102nd floors.
