In summer, there is a ferry to Thassos daily and every hour, departing from Kavala and arriving in Limenas in 1 hour and 30 minutes. There is also a ferry to Thassos from the port of Keramoti in mainland Greece, arriving in Skala Prinou in Thassos after 40 minutes
In ancient times the island of Thassos was quarried for its marble and there are stunning marble statues at the Archaeological Museum of Limenas.
