More info: The Swakopmund jetty was built in 1905 to provide a good cargo and passenger landing site. The original structure was built in wood but after years of damage from the sea and woodworm, in 1911, work commenced on a replacement steel structure. Work was halted by World War I and the jetty remained unfinished and abandoned and was eventually closed to the public. After a massive fundraising campaign the jetty was restored and finally re-opened in 2006.
The Jetty is one of the town's most outstanding beach side features, popular with locals, visitors and fishermen. A restaurant was added to Swakopmund jetty in 2010.
