More info: Lake Cuyamaca, also called Cuyamaca Lake, or Cuyamaca Reservoir, is a 110 acre reservoir and a recreation area in the eastern Cuyamaca Mountains, located in eastern San Diego County, California.
Lake Cuyamaca is situated at 4600 feet in an Oak and Pine forest and it is surrounded on three sides by the 26,000 acre Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, which is 52% wilderness. Stocked with over 38,000 lbs. of trout annually, Lake Cuyamaca is the only San Diego lake that is able to stock trout all year long. Other species of fish include Florida bass, smallmouth bass, channel catfish, crappie, bluegill and sturgeon.
Deer are plentiful in the area and the park is also home to bobcats, coyotes, skunks, raccoons and a large variety of birds from desert, montane, chaparral and aquatic habitats.
