More info: La Pedriza is a very important natural site in Madrid and one of the most known rock climbing places in Spain. It is part of the National Park of Sierra de Guadarrama, located in the southern face of this mountain range, and very close to Madrid. This is why is an important tourist and climbing destination.
La Pedriza is an old granite batholith whose highest point is the summit of El Yelmo (1717 m/5633 ft) in the Pedriza Anterior and the Torres de la Pedriza (2029 m/6656 ft) in the Pedriza Posterior.
The Manzanares river, the same that crosses the city of Madrid, finds its source in the mountains near La Pedriza, and many streams meet with this river, providing flow to its high course. There are different activities like sport climbing, bouldering, but also hiking and mountaineering.
