More info: Tywyn Wharf railway station, originally called King's station, was a place for the transhipment of slates from the quarries at Bryn Eglwys to Tywyn. The line opened in 1866.

In 1951. Tywyn Wharf became the first railway in the world to be preserved as a heritage railway by volunteers. The Talyllyn Railway is a 2 ft 3 in (686 mm) narrow gauge railway line running for 7.25 miles (11.67 km)

Located on site is the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum, gift shop and cafe.
