More info: Waterloo Bridge is a road and foot traffic bridge crossing the River Thames and is is a Grade II listed bridge which was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, whose other work includes Battersea Power Station. The bridge has great views of the city of London with the South Bank on one side and Canary Wharf on the other.

Waterloo Bridge was originally called the Strand bridge and was renamed as a lasting legacy of the victory achieved in the Battle of Waterloo. It opened in 1817, however, as the years went on, the bridge gradually started to deteriorate and was demolished in the 1930s, before a new bridge was built in 1942, the one of today. It was built during World War II and due to the significant amount of women who worked on the construction, which in normal times would hae been men, it is often called "the ladies Bridge".
