Of the more than 5,200 bridges in the state of Florida, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, is by far the most famous. Opening in 1987, it is a cable stayed bridge with a vertical clearance of 191 feet above the 1,200 foot wide shipping channel over Tampa Bay.
