More info: Amaterdam Central Train Station is located in the heart of the city. It is also a stopping point for city trams and buses and nearby are waterfront stations for Amsterdam city ferries.
Amsterdam Central Station was built between 1881 and 1889 and was designed by Pierre Cuypers– a famed Dutch architect whose work includes the Rijksmuseum. Like other buildings from this period, the station was designed to glorify Dutch culture and represent the nation’s economic prowess. The station is on Station Island, which is where the Station Square is also located. The high-speed train Thalys departs daily for Brussels and Paris from Amsterdam Central Station.
