More info: The webcam shows the Catholic shrine (Grotto) to Our Lady of Lourdes. The Blessed Sacrament procession is held daily at 5:00 pm, starting at the open-air altar on the prairie across the river from the grotto. The Torchlight Marian Procession takes place daily at 9.00pm. It begins near the Grotto and continues around the esplanade ending in the Rosary square.
The world famous pilgrimage destination is where the Virgin Mary appeared to the young peasant girl Bernadette Soubirous in 1858. Shortly thereafter the city with the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes became one of the world's most important sites of pilgrimage and religious tourism.
Countless purported miracle cures have been documented there, from the healing of nervous disorders and cancers to cases of paralysis and even of blindness.
