Live Webcam at Graceland Mansion
More info: Elvis Presley lived at Graceland in Memphis in Tennessee, for two decades before his death on August 16, 1977, at age 42. His daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, was the owner of Graceland until her very sad passing on January 12th 2023, aged 54. The property, which is in a trust, will now go to Lisa Marie Presley’s three daughters Riley, 33, and her twin half-sisters, Harper and Finley, 14.
The house was built in 1939 by Dr. Thomas and Ruth Moore who named it "Graceland" in honour of a family member. The elegant, columned mansion faces west, perched on a hilltop in Whitehaven, a suburb eight miles from downtown Memphis, Tennessee.
During the 1950s, Graceland was used by the Christian Church. In 1957 Elvis Presley purchased it from the YMCA for just under $102,500. He quickly began remodeling and redecorating, adding a racquetball court, a pink Alabama fieldstone wall, and wrought iron gates shaped like giant guitars. The house grew from 10,266 square feet to 17,552 square feet as Presley added more and more rooms.
In October 2020, Lisa Marie’s only son, Benjamin, was laid to rest at Graceland alongside his loved ones. Benjamin was 27 years old when he died by suicide in July 2020.
Lisa Marie will be the latest Presley family member to be buried at the Tennessee estate. Her father, who died in August 1977 at age 42, as well as her grandparents Vernon and Gladys Presley were laid to rest on the property.
