More info: The Port of Nice is one of the most important harbors on the French Riviera. The entrance to the port is marked by a long breakwater, which has a lighthouse at the end. The Port of Nice is both a commercial and a pleasure port, serving as a major hub for ferries, cruise ships and yachts, as well as hosting traditional "pointus" boats.
Nice's Promende des Anglais is the Mediterranean beachfront promenade lined with luxury hotels and palm tres and stretches for seven likometers. The name comes from the English aristocrats who came to Nice in the 18th century to enjoy the health benefits of the sunny climate.
The Promenade des Anglais is also where many events are organized. It is here that part of the famous Nice Carnival takes place. One of the most expensive hotels is the Le Negresco hotel. From the Promenade des Anglais visitors can reach Castle Hill and enter the Old Town of Nice.
