More info: Vineyard Haven lies on the northern shore of Martha’s Vineyard about four miles southeast of Woods Hole and 22 miles southeast of New Bedford.
Vineyard Haven forms the working harbour village in the town of Tisbury and is the year-round port for Martha’s Vineyard, the other being Oak Bluffs which is seasonal. The town is nestled in a cove between two points of land, East Chop and West Chop.
Travelling to Martha’s Vineyard is either by ferry or aeroplane as there is no bridge or tunnel to the island. While there are lots of ferry options May-October, the only year-round ferry service and the only service that carries cars, motorcycles and trucks is the Steamship Authority.
