  • Info: Live Sheringham Beach webcam in Norfolk, England. Sheringham beach lies on the North Norfolk coast. Sheringham has two beaches which both disappear at high tide.

More info: Sheringham is a stony beach with sand and rock pools at low tide when the beach opens up. Huge bolders and rocks lie against the main part of the promenade as a sea defence, so at high tide only rocks and shingle are visible.

The town of Sheringham still retains the feel of an old-fashioned seaside resort. There are colourful beach huts, a lovely promenade, cafes, amusement arcades and steam train rides in the town. The North Norfolk Steam Railway (The Poppy Line) is just a ten-minute walk through the town from the beach.

Sheringham was once an old fishing village and that heritage is still evident today in the museums and on murals that decorate the promenade. The Sheringham Museum is packed with displays and artefacts which relate to the history of the town which goes back over a thousand years.

Sheringham still has a fishing industry based on crabs, lobsters and whelks, but there is no harbour so fishing boats are pulled up the sand by tractor.
