More info: The beach of Playa Grande is a calm water beach and is over a kilometre long. Of the many beaches in the area, Playa Grande is the best known given that it welcomes more visitors than any other and life in Puerto del Carmen revolves around it.

Puerto del Carmen is the islands main holiday resort and apart from Playa Grande has two other beaches. Playa de los Pocillos is another yellow sandy beach and at the eastern end of town is Playa de Matagorda another unspoilt beach. All along the beaches runs the 6 kilometre long Avenida de las Playas, (the Strip) a waterfront promenade, lined with restaurants, bars and cafés.
