More info: Myrtle Beach is a city and seaside resort on the Atlantic coast of South Carolina and is at the heart of the Grand Strand – a 60 mile string of beaches. The beachfront boardwalk has arcades, restaurants and souvenir stalls and is home to the Sky Wheel one of the country’s tallest Ferris wheels.
The name "Myrtle Beach" comes from the wax myrtle, a shrub which grows locally in abundance and was chosen in a name-the-town contest in 1900.
