More info: The beach at Mers-les-Bains is 1 kilometre long with pebbles and sand at low tide, backed by high chalk cliffs.

Much of the older part of town developed during the latter part of the 19th century and fine villas were constructed in the Balbeal Quarter. There are around 500 of these colourful villas which make up this embalmatic district of the Picardy coast and they are now subject to preservation orders.
