More info: The city of Daytona Beach is divided in two by the Halifax River lagoon, part of the Intracoastal Waterway, and sits on the Atlantic Ocean. It is bordered on the north by Holly Hill and Ormond Beach and on the south by Daytona Beach Shores, South Daytona and Port Orange.

Daytona Beach has 23 miles of white, hard-packed sand which gives the city its name. Daytona Beach’s nickname, the ‘World’s Most Famous Beach’, was first given back in the 1920s, when it became world-renowned for its high-speed automobile testing and racing. The Daytona International Speedway, which hosts the iconic Daytona 500 NASCAR race, draws hundreds of thousands of spectators and enthusiasts to the city each year.

Close to the rides, shops and arcades of the boardwalk, is the Daytona Beach Bandshell which stages free summer concerts and the nearby Daytona Lagoon water park offers go-karts, thrill rides, wave pool and waterslides.

The southernmost point of the peninsula is home to the Ponce De Leon Inlet Lighthouse. It is the tallest lighthouse in Florida and at 175 feet high, it has fantastic views of Daytona Beach and the surrounding area. The site also has a museum, Marine Science Centerand a sea turtle rehabilitation facility.
