More info: Woolacombe Beach lies on Devon's north coast, between Croyde and Ilfracombe and is a 3 mile stretch of golden sand with great waves and a coastal footpath. Woolacombe is one of the finest beaches in the West Country is popular with both surfers and families looking for a traditional seaside experience. Due to Atlantic waves, the swell is large making ita good for surfing.

Woolacombe itself is a lively village with great pubs, restaurants and places to stay, and is a perfect base for a family holiday, surfing trip or stop-over when walking the South West Coast Path

During WW2, the beach was used to train the US Army in amphibious landings as part of the preparations for the Normandy Landings. There is a stone memorial to the soldiers on the grassy headland at the north end of the golden sandy bay.
