More info: Torrevieja is a seaside city on the Costa Blanca in the province of Alicante, on the south eastern Mediterranean coast of Spain and is located about 50km south of Alicante.

Torrevieja has over 20km of stunning coastline with an abundance of white sandy beaches and rocky coves. Playa de los Locos is a sandy beach of 760 meters long. It is a popular family beach with lots of bars, restaurants and shops. Los Locos is also well known for its sporting activities such as surfing and windsurfing. The beach borders to the north with Punta del Salaret where the Cala de los Trabajos is located. To the south it borders the Cala del Palangre.

Play de Los Locos literally translates as “ Beach of the crazy people “ and receives its name from a psychiatric residence that existed there at the beginning of the 20th century

Torrevieja literally translates as Torre Vieja which means the Old Tower. It used to be a tiny fishing village (like many of the towns on the Costa Blanca) but it has witnessed a huge explosion in size and population in recent times – most of which is from the huge numbers of people moving to Torrevieja from Northern Europe or buying holiday homes in the area.
