More info: Ballybunion has two main beaches called the Men's Beach or South Beach, and the Ladies Beach or North Beach. When facing the sea, Men's Beach is located to the left/south of the castle and Ladies' Beach to the right/north of the castle. The names date back to the early 20th century when men and women were required to bathe on separate beaches. At low tide, you can walk along the sand around the base of the castle cliff to pass between both beaches.
The north and south beaches are both Blue Flag beaches and are perfect for walking, swimming, surfing and other water-sports.
