More info: Avila Beach is just off Highway 1 on California’s central coast. As well as the lovely beach, it offers lots of hotels, charming oceanfront restaurants, magnificent local wines, and good shopping.

The Point San Luis Lighthouse at Avila Beach is on the National Register of Historic Places and still in operation under the auspices of the U.S. Coast Guard. It is the only surviving Victorian lighthouse remaining on the West Coast.
