More info: Alanya, is a seaside town on the southern coast of Turkey, on the central Mediterranean coast and is squeezed between the dazzling Mediterranean Sea and the Taurus Mountains.
Alanya’s broad sandy beaches have seen the town on the Turkish Riviera grow from a modest resort into the popular summer destination it is today.
The historical old part of the town sits on a rocky peninsula with an impressive 13thcentury castle. Its wide beaches lined with hotels include Cleopatra Beach, where the Egyptian queen reputedly swam. The iconic Red Tower of Kizilkule Fortress is a symbol of the city dating back to 1226. It was intended to protect the Tersane, or shipyard, which dates from the same era. The tower stands at 33 metres tall and climbing to the top gives panoramic views across Alanya and its bay.
