More info: It's a local tradition to gather on the beach behind Schooners every night to celebrate Sunset — the crowd counts down and, just as the sun dips below the horizon, they blast an old cannon and the party begins and the dancing continues in to the small hours.
In 1995, Schooners was hit by Hurricane Opal and the new owners Sparky Sparkman and Toni Davis, were committed to rebuilding the historic original structure. The original bar, along with every original floorboard, piling, wall and rafter was lovingly restored and loyal staff searched through wreckage to find and restore old photos and historic memorabilia.
